Rimmel Lash Maxxx 3X Lash Multiplying Effect Mascara ($4.37)

Why we love it : Serrated comb whose variegated teeth allow for creating tremendously long lashes without clumps; Lashes stay soft, the formula doesn’t flake, and it comes off easily with a water-soluble cleanser.

Rimmel

What we said : Successive coats build some thickness and you can really get to the lash roots for emphasis there, but this is mostly about making lashes very defined and long. Lashes stay soft, the formula doesn’t flake, but is prone to running if you have watery eyes. Not bad for less than five dollars!

Sheer Cover Pressed Mineral Foundation ($30; $19.95 member price)

Why we love it : a pressed powder foundation with a beautiful application; can go from sheer to medium coverage without looking heavy on skin; every shade is great (though dark shades are absent).

What we said : A smoother, neater way to experiment with mineral makeup, though the composition of this mica-based, talc-free, pressed-powder foundation differs from traditional mineral makeup. This has a beautiful soft texture that blends well and leaves skin with a subtle glow. It does not look too thick, powdery, or heavy on skin whether applied with a brush or sponge. Unless you need significant camouflage, consider spending your Sheer Cover dollars on this pressed foundation instead of their loose-powder Mineral Foundation.

Sisley Phyto-MascaraSisley Paris Phyto-Mascara Ultra-Volume ($57)

Why we love it : Although one of the most expensive mascaras ever, an effortless application easily builds thickness and volume, adds a nice curl, and keeps lashes soft throughout the day with no smudging or flaking.

What we said : . One coat will give you a natural look, while applying more will give your eyes that "wow" factor that only beautiful, long lashes can provide. Removal is easy with a water-soluble cleanser. The price tag is shocking, and several mascaras that cost much less provide equally impressive results, but if this is what you want to pay for mascara, here's one to consider.

Yves Saint Laurent Ombre Solo Double Effect Eyeshadow ($24.50)

Why we love it : Silky, tone-on-tone powder eyeshadows that blend superbly and doesn’t flake; all duos have some amount of shine.  Find it!

What we said : Two superb eyeshadows in one sleek compact. This is YSL’s silkiest eyeshadow formula. All of the duos are shiny, but most not distractingly so. Numbers 5 and 6 are the least shiny.

Yves Saint Laurent Everlong Mascara Lengthening Mascara ($26.50)

Why we love it : Short, dense bristles that allow you to build prodigious length and enough thickness to satisfy, all with only minor clumps that are easy to comb through.  Find it!

What we said :  The expert application attainable also leaves lashes softly curled, and wears without a smear or flake. If you’re going to spend this much on mascara, it should be top-notch, and this one certainly is!
