Senior Web Developer

Job Description

Paula's Choice is looking for an in house Senior Web Developer to be their go-to technical expert. Looking for an individual with a strong combination of front-end and back-end development + solid relational database skills. The Senior Web Developer will work closely with a team of web, marketing, design, and other professionals to successfully deliver projects for Paula's Choice including consumer oriented content and e-commerce sites and custom, internal database-driven applications.

You will use your technical knowledge and creative thinking to provide the most innovative solutions. You must be self-motivated to meet aggressive deadlines in a fast changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs full lifecycle web application development, including application design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance.
  • Conduct needs assessment; determining programming and project requirements.
  • Designs database schema to support database-driven web sites and applications.
  • Documents web site functionality, installation and administrative procedures.
  • Manages and leads a web development team consisting of 2-4 web professionals and/or student interns to include project coordination/work assignment, work review and career advancement.
  • Develops and maintains a strong knowledge of third party products used in developing and maintaining Paula's Choice web sites.
  • Ensures Paula's choice web sites are operational at all times, responds quickly to reported problems, coordinates as necessary with other departments, takes lead in troubleshooting related issues.
  • Available to work occasional non-standard hours and be on-call for emergencies.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends applicable to Web technology.
  • Advocates best practices within the team and maintains industry standards.
  • Team player, able to work well with others.

Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related major.
  • Minimum 5+ years web development experience.
  • 3+ years of solid experience using web application stack (.NET/LAMP), and open to working in C# or PHP.
  • 3+ years of hand coding X/HTML, CSS, Javascript and AJAX. XML/JSON experience a plus.
  • 3+ years of advanced relation database development and administration experience including SQL Server and/or MySQL.
  • Experience with source control, project management and other collaboration tools.
  • Ability to understand and integrate new technologies.

Interactive Creative Director, Online Retail

Job Description

As a hands-on Interactive Creative Director you know how to have fun at your job and have the ability to infuse emotion into creative imagery that engages and inspires the target audience.

You create compelling creative concepts that connect with the audience on an emotional and intellectual level without resorting to “Better than Botox” and “Miracle in a Bottle” marketing hype.

You will play a key leadership role working with copywriters, User Interface Designers, Graphic artists, Marketing, Web Development, Sr. Management and outside contractors for photography, video and printing.

Responsibilities:
  • Concept, develop and manage a “best in class” Creative product
  • Direct your team to develop great creative as well as jump in yourself to do hands-on creation of print and interactive layouts and graphics.
  • Manage creative teams and tracks of work, including:
    • Translate marketing objectives into creative strategies, present and sell to Sr. Management
    • Lead and direct the creative team from concept to completion
    • Plan time and budget estimates for highly complex projects
Experience Guidelines:
  • 10+ years of industry experience in a well established, creative role with a proven track record of success, agency and in-house experience a plus
  • Solid verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to all levels of management and co-workers
  • Knowledge of print collateral, direct marketing, online advertising, web experiences, with proven conceptual, and design abilities. Ecommerce and catalog experience a plus.
  • Must be well-versed in user-centered design methods and techniques
  • Possess a deep understanding in related creative tracks: design, interactive development, copywriting and content strategy
  • Proficient to expert in: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Visio, Microsoft Office, Flash, Video.

Beauty Writer

Job Description

Can you write killer copy, create powerful headlines and craft messages that sell?

We want to talk to you!

Paula’s Choice is looking for someone who has experience writing for fashion magazines or online beauty or cosmetic sites.

As a Beauty Writer you will work closely with our Director of Marketing to write advertising copy for both online and print projects in a B2C environment. You must be self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and able to juggle several kinds of marketing projects at the same time. You must also be a good, quick editor.

You will also need to be able to see the big picture yet willing to roll up your sleeves, work hard and get results.

Specific duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Write online and email-based advertising copy on behalf of the beauty industry
  • Write and edit internal marketing projects including media kits and trade show materials
  • Write and edit press releases
  • Write and manage email marketing campaigns (build, design, create content and publish multiple campaigns a month
  • Edit online and printed marketing materials
  • Write marketing copy in conjunction with the Marketing Director

Requirements:

  • BA in English, marketing or related field
  • 5+ years experience copywriting and /or editing within a creative team preferably with an emphasis on e-commerce
  • 3+ years experience copywriting in the beauty industry or related field
  • Marketing background preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and handle pressure while multi-tasking and adhering to quality and deadlines
  • Must be self-motivated, highly organized, flexible and detail-oriented

Paula's Choice is looking for an upbeat, friendly and experienced Customer Service Sales Consultant to join our team. As a member of our service and sales team, you will be acting as a brand ambassador to assist our new and existing retail clients with their purchasing needs. From providing basic product information to working with customers on a range of skin care concerns, your expertise in service and selling will add value to this already dynamic team and help ensure that our customers are getting the world class service we strive for.


Essential Functions:

  • Understand and support the Paula’s Choice brand and philosophy
  • Answer incoming calls, take orders, make product suggestions, and answer customer questions
  • Monitor voicemail and return calls
  • Process orders submitted via web, phone, fax and mail
  • Process returns and exchanges
  • Process and send out catalogs and correspondence
  • Handle e-mail correspondence
  • Handle Live Chat communications
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and check status of orders
  • Absolutely no cold-calling or telemarketing
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-5 years experience as a Customer Service/Sales Consultant, Makeup artist or Esthetician
